The visitors started confidently and forced Orrell to defend deep in their own half for the first 10 minutes of the game. However the Orrell forwards soon took command with good work from Peter Sprung and Jonathan Pegg creating good possession for the backs.
An excellent defence breaking run by number 8 Michael Caldwell finally gave Orrell the field position they deserved and, following a series of infringements by Buxton, Mark Hewlett opened the scoring with a converted penalty.
Shortly after a mistake by the visitors allowed winger Brown to pick up loose ball and run in a try from 40 metres out.
John Whittaker powered over for an excellent try just before the half time break after good pressure from the home forwards, giving Orrell a comfortable lead.
The second half saw Orrell dominate the game however they failed to capitalise squandering several try scoring opportunities.
As the opposition tired Max Huxley emerged from a pile of bodies to claim a well worked forwards try, and late in the game replacement John Pickup finished off a lovely backs move to give a final scoreline reflective of Orrell's dominance.
Sterner tests will follow this season however Orrell start with a deserved win.
